Bennett's statement: My collection of Mormon books and material filled two shelves and was growing. Most of the literature was written by those critical of Mormonism, generally Protestant Fundamentalists whose treatment ranged from analytical to sensational.

There are thousands of books written about the Mormons, and they range from totally favorable to totally against. Note the composition of this man's collection: MOSTLY totally against. Note that a significant fraction of that end of the scale is "sensational", which I think I recognize - tabloid journalism, not having much contact with the truth.

If you read several books on a topic, some for and some against, it's usually possible to discern if one side relies heavily on lies.

Now, if you go thru the LDS missionaries' lessons, they are a logical, step-by-step introduction, starting with basic principles and building on those once they are understood. If you are raised in a Mormon family and go thru the Primary program, again it starts with basic principles and builds on them. Even were you to sample Mormon doctrine in some random order, it would probably still be fairly easy to understand. For it is a very logical religion; that's the way the Gospel of Jesus Christ is.

It's a standard antimormon trick, tho, to start the reader off with the most complicated, unusual stuff, which they are unprepared to understand. That's where this man started, two whole shelves of it!

You'll notice where Bennett's book begins: Blacks and the priesthood, plural gods, contention with "red-orange flames"!
